SOM Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026 · Version 2.0
The original version of this document is in Portuguese. Translations are provided for reference; in case of any discrepancy, the Portuguese text prevails.
By creating your account or using SOM, you agree to these terms. Read carefully — we try to be clear and direct, without unnecessary legalese, so you feel safe about everything we need to have and do for SOM to work well.
⚠️ UNDER CONSTRUCTION — SOM's general terms go here, keeping from the chapter below whatever applies to the whole platform. What is written today covers only BEM.
1. General — SOM
[to be written] This chapter applies to the whole platform: who we are, your account, your data, privacy law, artificial intelligence, cookies, changes to these terms and applicable law. Today these matters sit in chapter 2, written for BEM.
2. BEM specifics
What applies when you use the Bible study module.
1. Who we are
BEM — Bíblia Estruturada para Mães (Structured Bible for Mothers) is a digital Bible study platform run by Larissa Mayra Pena e Souza Toledo, in Brazil, and it will be formally assigned to Momtiversity — a company currently being incorporated, which will take on all rights of use and ownership of the platform. We will let you know by email when the incorporation is complete, and we state from the outset: the purposes, the data we handle and your rights will remain the same as set out in this document.
Contact for anything, including your rights over your data: bem@momtiversity.com. This is the only address — we reply within 15 days.
2. What BEM is
BEM organizes reading the whole Bible into a journey with a beginning, a middle and an end, along with tools to record what you notice: the Grimoire, for what comes from the Bible; the BibliAteca, for what comes from outside it; the Community, for whatever you choose to share with other mothers; and B-Mom, an assistant that answers your study questions.
The journey follows what you do. If you stop for a week, nothing expires and nothing is held against you — the dates adjust to the pace you decide to study at. No pressure, no judgment.
Part of BEM is delivered by outside platforms. Videos, audio and files come from third-party services. If those platforms go down, change their rules, or stop working where you are, BEM is affected too — and we may have to discontinue a feature, partly or entirely. If that happens, we will let you know. The reading journey, your Grimoire and the Community do not depend on that and keep working.
BEM's content is educational and reflective. It does not replace pastoral, theological, psychological, medical or legal advice of any kind.
3. Who can use BEM
BEM is essentially designed for mothers, but it may be used by any woman aged 18 or over. Because we deal with matters of faith and personal life, we have chosen not to open registration to minors.
That is why we ask for your date of birth at sign-up. If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close the account and delete its data without prior notice. This preserves the right of legal guardians who may not know about BEM to guide their daughters' Bible study themselves.
Whoever invites another person to a group is responsible for inviting someone who is allowed to use the platform.
4. Your account, and how to close it
You access BEM with your email, and you are responsible for keeping your account secure.
You can close your account whenever you want, under My account. When you do, we permanently delete everything that is yours: your profile, your Grimoire, your BibliAteca, your progress, your posts, and the replies other mothers wrote to them — because a reply without the post it refers to makes sense to no one.
There is no undo — the only record that remains is that you agreed to these terms, without your identifying data, as we explain in section 14. If you come back one day, you will start a new journey, with a blank page waiting for you.
Your data leaves our database immediately and remains in backup copies for up to 30 days. It is never restored — after that, it is gone from there too, for good.
If you lead a group, it is not undone when you leave without first looking for someone to carry on: the participants are asked in the order they joined, until the first one accepts taking over as Leader. If none accepts, the group is dissolved — each mother carries on with her own study from where she stopped, with no further access to that group's shared space, and any of them can create a new group if she wishes. We do not tell anyone why you left.
5. What is ours, what belongs to others
BEM's methodology, the structure of the study journey, the texts we write, the brand, the design and the platform's code are our property. You may not copy, resell or distribute them without written permission.
The biblical text is not ours. We use public domain or openly licensed translations, and the rights to them belong to whoever holds them.
Your access is personal and non-transferable. Sharing your password or using the platform to resell access may lead to your account being closed.
6. What is yours
What you write in your Grimoire, and what you keep privately in your BibliAteca, is private. No other user sees what you write. The BEM team does not read your notes — but because they are stored on our servers, technical access exists, and it is used only for maintenance, for support you request yourself, or when the law requires it.
Your Grimoire notes, your study answers and your contributions to the Community belong to you. We do not sell, license or publish your individual content.
For BEM to work, we need your permission for a few things. When you post or save content, you authorize us to store it, show it to whoever and wherever you chose to share it, moderate it and translate it — only to operate the platform, and never for any other purpose. This permission is free of charge, non-exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content.
You also authorize us to use aggregated and fully anonymized data to improve the platform and understand how study works — never to identify you.
7. What you choose to share
You can share part of your study with the BEM Community — visible to every mother on the platform — or with your group, visible only to its participants. The choice is yours, post by post.
When you choose to post, you authorize that text to be read by the mothers in that space, including in another language. BEM is used by mothers who read in Portuguese, English, Spanish and other languages; when one of them opens the Community, what has been posted is translated so she can understand it. Translation does not widen who can read — it only lets those who already could, understand.
Translation is done by computer. It is good and follows the market standard, but it may not be perfect in every turn of phrase: a reflection of yours may sound different in another language, and if that bothers you, you can always choose not to post and keep your content in your personal collection — what you write in your Grimoire and in your own BibliAteca stays private to you, only you read it, and if it is translated, it is for you to read in the language you choose.
Posting as an Anonymous mother means your name does not appear to the other mothers. It does not mean the post stops being linked to your account in our records — that link is needed to moderate content, to reply to you and to meet legal obligations.
You can delete your posts at any time. When you delete a post, the replies other mothers wrote to it are deleted along with it. Conversations in the Community are not built to last forever — whatever matters to you, we suggest keeping it in your personal collection.
8. What you keep in your BibliAteca
The BibliAteca is where you keep what you learn outside the Bible: videos, texts, audio, files. You can keep this to yourself, or recommend it to your group and to the Community.
When you upload or recommend content, you declare that you have the right to do so — that the material is yours, is freely distributable, or that you have permission from the rights holder. Responsibility for that content is yours.
If we receive notice that some content infringes someone's rights, we take it down without prior notice and forward the notice to whoever posted it, so that they can respond. Notices should be sent to bem@momtiversity.com.
Until you recommend a piece of content, it stays on your shelf alone, private to you.
9. Groups and the Leader's responsibility
Any mother can form a group and invite others. Whoever invites is the Leader of that group.
The Leader organizes participants into up to three spaces, so that she can bring together people from different parts of her life without mixing them. You do not see which space you are in, and that is intentional: it avoids awkwardness between mothers who know each other from different places.
The Leader can move you to another space. We do not say which space it is, so it is worth knowing that the set of mothers who read what you post may change over time. What you already posted stays where it was.
The Leader can also remove a participant from the group. She undertakes to invite only people she knows and who agreed to be invited — and she is responsible for the invitations she sends. But do not worry: if you are removed from a group by mistake, just ask your Leader to bring you back and she will send a new invitation. If you would rather leave the group you are in, you can withdraw and still carry on studying alone or join a new group. BEM's doors will always be open to you.
It is worth knowing that an invitation not accepted within 30 days loses its validity and stops working. We will notify whoever sent it, and the email address of the person invited will be free to receive a new invitation at any time.
10. Living together, and moderation
We care for a friendly environment, centered on welcome and on respect for different perceptions — because there is no absolute truth when it comes to the collective: God speaks to each one of us in a unique way.
In BEM you may not post content that is offensive, discriminatory, violent, illegal, or that exposes another person's private life; use the platform to sell products or services; or impersonate another person.
When you post anything publicly, whether in your group or in the Community, you authorize automatic analysis of the content, including by artificial intelligence, to identify material that is offensive or against these rules.
Depending on how serious it is, we may as a precaution hide a post, remove a participant from a group, or close an account temporarily — until the matter is looked into — or permanently, if the user's fault or intent is established. Whenever we do that, we tell you and give the reason in plain language — and you can respond, by writing to bem@momtiversity.com. If your explanation shows we were wrong, we undo whatever was done, restoring the account to its previous state, with no further loss to either side.
Moderation is our effort to keep the environment we describe. It is not a guarantee that nothing inappropriate will ever appear. So we count on your understanding and your help in flagging any excess, disrespect or failing on the part of another user.
11. Your data and Brazilian data protection law
We comply with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Law 13,709/2020), and this section is here to give you clarity about what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect and what for:
- Sign-up and preference data: name, email, date of birth, country and time zone — to identify you in the system and make sure you are of age.
- Progress data: reading progress, Grimoire notes, BibliAteca study content, planner items and so on — to help you follow the study plan and to make it work alongside groups and the Community.
- Interaction data: posts and replies, linked to your account publicly (group and Community), including when shown as “Anonymous mother” — to make it possible for mothers to exchange experiences and for us to uphold the good-conduct policy.
- Technical and statistical data: group invitation handling, access or system errors, journey mapping, where the access came from and so on — to fix and improve the platform.
Religious conviction is sensitive data under the law, and almost everything in BEM reveals something about your faith — what you read, what you note, who you study with. That is why we ask for your consent clearly and prominently, and not hidden in fine print. By granting us this permission, we can give you a tailored experience in a safe environment.
The permissions we ask for are necessary for BEM to work, and that is why they are requested together. If there is something here you do not agree with, do not worry: we understand your hesitation, and we will be here for when you feel safe doing BEM — with all the features and particulars that come with it, and that are essential for it to work properly.
What you can decide to do if you no longer want to continue in BEM:
- Close your account and delete everything — under My account, at any time.
- Withdraw your consent — under My account, noting that to withdraw consent you will need to close the account, because without it there is no way to operate the platform for you.
- Correct wrong data, request a copy of it, learn who we share it with, and complain to the Brazilian data protection authority — all the rights set out in article 18 of the LGPD.
The person responsible for this is the one named in section 1, and the channel is bem@momtiversity.com.
We protect your data with per-user access control in the database itself, encrypted connections, and review at every change to the structure. No system is immune to failure — what we promise is care and transparency when something happens, not perfection.
12. Artificial intelligence and translation
To protect you, B-Mom does not keep what you talk about with her. Each conversation is independent: when you close it, it is gone on our side. B-Mom knows your name and where you are in the journey, so she can talk with context — but she does not remember what you said yesterday.
For her to answer, what you write is sent to a contracted artificial intelligence provider outside Brazil. That provider keeps the text for up to 30 days in its systems, for security and abuse prevention, and for longer only if there is a suspected violation of its policies. We do not use these conversations for any other purpose, and they do not feed the training of any model.
Translation works the same way. When you read BEM in a language other than the one the text was written in — your own notes, or what other mothers posted — that text is sent to the same provider to be translated. The original never changes; the translation is stored so we do not have to send it again.
Content posted in the Community is analyzed automatically before and after it appears, for the sole purpose of moderation.
B-Mom's answers are generated by language models. They help you study and they can be wrong — they do not replace pastoral, theological or professional advice.
13. Where your data lives
BEM runs on cloud technology services, and some of them operate outside Brazil. We say this plainly because Brazilian law requires it, and because you have the right to know.
This transfer is necessary for the platform to exist. We choose providers with formal data protection commitments, and we are putting in place with each of them the instruments provided for in Brazilian law.
Who we share with, and what each one sees:
- Database service — holds your sign-up details, your Grimoire, your BibliAteca and your posts.
- Hosting service — serves the pages and keeps technical access logs.
- Artificial intelligence service — receives the text B-Mom answers and the text being translated.
- Email service — sends the messages, and sees your address and their content.
We do not sell, rent or hand over your data to anyone. Outside this list, we only share when the law requires it.
14. How long we keep it
- While your account exists: your sign-up details, study, Grimoire, BibliAteca and posts.
- When you close your account: everything is deleted from the database immediately, and leaves the backups within 30 days.
- Invitations not accepted: the invitation expires after 30 days and the email becomes free for a new one. The record of who invited whom remains while the group exists, as history. If you were invited, never created an account and do not want to appear in that record, write to bem@momtiversity.com and we will delete it.
- Dissolved groups: when a group is left without a Leader and no participant takes over, it is dissolved. What was posted there stops being accessible to everyone right away, and the group record and its content are deleted from our database 60 days later. What belongs to each mother — her study, her Grimoire, her own BibliAteca — never belonged to the group and stays with her.
- Consent records: kept for 5 years, without your identifying data — only the date and the version of the text you agreed to remain. It is what lets us prove the acceptance existed, without keeping who gave it.
- Technical logs: up to 12 months.
15. If something goes wrong
If there is a security incident that could put you at risk, we will notify you and the Brazilian data protection authority, saying what happened, which data was affected, and what we are doing about it.
We would rather tell you even when it is embarrassing for us, and we hope you will do the same — letting us know right away if you see anything suspicious in your account, so we can look into it and take the appropriate steps.
16. Cookies and storage on your device
BEM stores in your browser only what it needs to work: what keeps you signed in, and the language you chose.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you. There are no ads in BEM, and we do not follow you around other sites. But when you open a video, an audio file or a document that comes from an outside platform, that platform knows — and that is beyond our reach. Where it is possible to reduce it, we do: we use the no-tracking mode of the services that offer one. Not all of them do.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update this text as BEM evolves. When that happens, we will let you know by email and inside the platform, saying what changed and giving you time to read it calmly.
When a change affects how we handle your data, we will ask for your agreement again — continuing to use BEM does not count as acceptance for that. And here we are direct: BEM's permissions come together, so if you do not agree with the new version, we cannot keep offering you the platform.
While you have not decided, nothing is deleted and nothing is lost. Depending on the size of the change, we may keep your study running and pause only what depends on the new permission, or pause access entirely — and we say which of the two in the notice. If you agree later, everything comes back from where it stopped.
And if you decide not to carry on: take what is yours. Ask for a copy of your Grimoire and of what you wrote, by writing to bem@momtiversity.com, and close your account whenever you want. You leave with what you brought, and the door stays open for whenever it makes sense to come back.
Previous versions are kept, with the dates during which they applied. If you want to see the text you agreed to, just ask at the same address.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by Brazilian law — BEM is run in Brazil, and it is Brazilian law that applies to the handling of your data, wherever you are.
If there is a dispute and you live in Brazil, the courts of your own domicile apply. If you live abroad, the dispute will be resolved by the Brazilian courts — and if the law of your country does not allow that, the law of your country applies.
BEM was designed under Brazilian law, not under the law of every country. We have no way of knowing the law of every place where a mother might be — but we describe in this document, clearly, everything BEM does with what is yours. If you live outside Brazil, that is what you assess from, to decide whether using BEM creates any conflict or risk for you. Some features may not work as they were designed.
And if the law of your country does not allow access to some feature of BEM, that feature will not be made available to you — or, depending on the extent of the impact, BEM as a whole may not be. We may also decide, on our own, not to make the platform available in certain places. This is not a restriction against you: in some countries, studying the Bible exposes those who study, and we would rather not put anyone in that position unknowingly.
If any part of this text is found to be invalid, the rest remains in force.
3. Home Management specifics
[to be written] What applies when you use the home management module — household members, invitations, approvals, photos and receipts.
